Kia Sonet Facelift: Here it is, the Kia Sonet Facelift with edgier looks, enriched features, and comfort like never before.
Since its launch, the Sonet has made a space for itself in the crowded compact SUV segment in the country.
Characterised by its upmarket design, posh cabin and feature-loaded versions, the Sonet has been one of the top performers for Kia.
Now with the facelift, Kia capitalizes on that success by making what was already of a strong package stronger.
The new Sonet still takes on the likes of Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, and Mahindra XUV 3XO, but now with a sharper look and more creature comforts.
Upgraded Design and a Robust Road Presence
Outside, the Sonet Facelift receives substantial cosmetic changes, contributing to a more mature and aggressive look.
Up front, there’s an all-new front grille punctuated with slimmer, LED headlamps and a sporty bumper to suit.
Those new star map LED DRLs and reworked taillamps (joined by an LED light bar at the back) make a strong impact on the road, especially at night.
Fresh alloy wheel patterns and altered body cladding help the sporty cause.
Kia has also brought in new colour options and dual-tone combinations to help buyers personalize their Sonet more.
For a sub-4-meter SUV, the Sonet has quite an upscale appearance with a confident stance and nicely balanced proportions.
Modern Amenities Fill This Cabin to the Brim
On the inside, the Sonet Facelift continues the same upmarket feel with improved material quality and added tech. The dual-tone dash now feels more upscale, the touchscreen has gotten savvier.
Higher trim levels have the 10.25-inch infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster and upgraded connected car features through Kia Connect.
A 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging etc continue to keep the Sonet punching well beyond its price class in terms of equipment.
The space at the back is more comfortable now with improved padding and better air-con vents.
Cabin insulation is improved, resulting in a quieter ride, particularly on the highway.
Engines and the Driving Experience
The Sonet Facelift is still available with three engines options by Kia:
A 1.2Lavenaturally aspirated petrol (manual)
A 1.0L turbo petrol (iMT/DCT)
Diesel: 1.5L (manual/auto)
The 1.0L turbo petrol is still the choice for keen drivers, with strong bottom-end torque and an eagerness to rev.
Driving in city is made easy and cruising on highways is a cake walk with the 7-speed DCT. The diesel motor is torquey and smooth and is mated to a 6-speed automatic– suitable for those with long daily runs.
The ride quality, too, is well-judged and all but the most pronounced lumps are absorbed without much trouble.
The steering is light for city use, yet adds sufficient weight for secure highway driving. Not as sporty as some competitors, the Sonet delivers a poised, mature driving experience.
Safety and Technology
Safety has also been enhanced by Kia, with six airbags and a general standard fitment across most versions.
Other features of the car include ESC, Hill Assist, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), rear parking sensors etc.
Also new to the top spec (and to the segment) are ADAS features — Forward Collision Warning and Lane Keep Assist.
Advanced driver assistance systemsfeatures such as Forward Collision Warning and Lane Keep Assist are available in the top-of-the-line variant, making this one of the most tech-forward SUVs in its class.
